Sixteen recruits from 47F Grantham Squadron Air Cadets graduated at their passing out parade last week.
It was a proud moment for the parents and the squadron as well as the cadets themselves. Flight Sergeant Liam Howitt, the recruit training NCO, said: “It’s been great to see how far these young people have come from the beginning. Four months ago they were all individuals who have developed into a solid team through their basic training. It has been a huge pleasure delivering the majority of the training to these young guys and girls.
“Finally, I wish them all the best for their cadet career and I hope they have a fantastic time and achieve everything they set out to do whilst a part of our squadron.”
The dignitaries who attended the parade were His Grace the Duke of Rutland, squadron padre the Rev Stuart Foster and Chief Inspector Damon Solley, a former Grantham cadet, now of West Yorkshire Police.
The new cadets have the opportunity to participate in the wide variety of activities that the squadron has to offer.
Officer Commanding 47F Flt Lt Paul James said: “It is always a great moment to see new cadets graduate into the squadron and very special to have former 47F cadet Damon Solley joining us to be the reviewing officer. He was a cadet at 47F and once stood where these young cadets now stand.”
The squadron is currently recruiting. For details email firstname.lastname@example.org or call in at the squadron at Triggs Yard on Watergate on any Tuesday or Thursday evening, between 7pm and 9pm.
