Video: Health minister visits surgery to get views on new NHS plans

HEALTH minister Lord Howe visited St Peter’s Hill surgery in Grantham last Thursday (26 Thursday) as part of a national tour organised to gather views on proposed reforms of the NHS.

Lord Howe spent time at the surgery meeting the health care team, finding out more about the services delivered at the surgery by GP consortia and talking to patients.

The visit was arranged to gather views on new proposals to give GPs control over local health service budgets.

GPs in Lincolnshire are already working on a review of services in Grantham and the surrounding area as part of a project called Shaping Health for Mid-Kesteven.

Lord Howe said: “I’m delighted to have met staff at St Peter’s Hill Surgery and am encouraged by the good work already being done by the GP consortia Shaping Health for Mid Kesteven.

“It’s a great example of staff taking control and making decisions that will really change the health and outcomes of their communities.”
