Members of the Hose and Harby branch of the Royal British Legion were joined by about 50 people at Harby war memorial to reflect upon the 100 years from the start of the First World War.
On Monday at 10pm, candles were lit and placed upon the steps of the memorial. The act of homage was carried out by Parade Marshall Peter Hackett and Remembrance prayers were said by Paul Towns.
On September, August 13, branch members will be doing a special days event where upon they will visit each memorial along the Vale of Belvoir and read the names of the fallen. The day will start at Long Clawson at 9.45am and finish with a short service at Stathern church at 4pm with refreshments after at The Plough.
