Weather warning as temperatures are set to plummet overnight
The weather is set to worsen overnight with temperatures expected to plummet as low as -10C.
Parts of the UK, including the East Midlands, are currently on Alert Level 3 according to the Met Office, which means people must take action to protect themselves against cold weather.
Roads and pavements will be icy, so motorists and pedestrians are advised to take care. Fog is also likely to settle, bringing with it visibility problems.
A Met Office spokesman said: “This weather could increase the health risks to vulnerable patients and disrupt the delivery of services.”
Weather forecasters are predicting further snowfall in the Grantham area from Friday.
