Women robbed of their handbags
A LINK between two robberies in Grantham’s town centre in the early hours of Saturday monring is not being ruled out by police.
At about 12.30am in Elmer Street North, a 38-year-old Grantham woman was robbed of her handbag.
She was walking with a friend when a man barged between them and grabbed her green snakeskin clutch bag containing keys, a mobile phone and a debit card.
A description of the culprit is not yet known by police.
Half-an-hour later, an 18-year-old woman from Grantham was walking through the car park of St John’s Medical Centre in London Road when a man approached and demanded her handbag. When she refused to hand it over he punched her in the face, snatched the bag and ran off towards Sainsbury’s.
The victim sustained cuts and bruises to her face.
The robber is described as white, of a large build, 6ft tall and wearing either a top with the hood up or a balaclava.
Anyone with information on either robbery is urged to call Grantham Police Station on 0300 111 0300, or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555111.
