Work on the new paddling pool at Grantham’s Wyndham Park will begin in September.

SKDC and the Wyndham Park Forum have confirmed the start of the project which will avoid closing the current pool during the school holidays in July and August.

Work is set to begin in early September and the project will take approximately five weeks to complete with an official opening in the park in the autumn.

The new facility will reflect the concept selected during last year’s consultation exercise in Grantham.

The winning design will include a dedicated traditional paddling pool and a splash pad with six play items including fountains.

Grantham Rotary Club has generously donated eight new seats to be installed around the pool edge.

SKDC’s portfolio holder for leisure, arts and culture Coun Bob Adams said: “We know how popular the pool is in the summer months with people in South Kesteven and from outside the district. Therefore the work on the new pool will not disrupt people’s enjoyment of the facility during peak season.

“We thank Grantham Rotary Club for their exceptional support with seating at the pool and I am looking forward to seeing the new design take shape.”

A successful application to WREN in 2013 resulted in £42,871 being awarded towards the £80,000 project.
