M&S has announced it will support the Mayor of Grantham’s charities when it opens its doors in Grantham later this month.
Staff at the Simply Food store, in London Road, have already planned a number of fund-raisers, including cake sales, customer bag packing and fun themed days.
Proceeds will go to the Grantham Journal Children’s Fund, Kesteven RiDeAbility and Gravity FM, all of which are being support by the Mayor of Grantham Ian Selby during his year in office. M&S Simply Food Grantham has also appointed the Grantham Canal Society, which has been appealing for help to continue its ongoing canal restoration work, as its Plan A charity project.
Grantham store manager Dean Law said: “Each M&S store across the UK selects a local charity to support and we are delighted that the M&S Simply Food Grantham team will be raising awareness and fund-raising for four separate causes. The team and I decided that we wanted to show our commitment to both the Grantham area and the local community by choosing four local charities, and we are all passionate about working closely to ensure that the charities receive both the support and recognition that they deserve.”
M&S Simply Food opens its doors on Wednesday, November 26, creating 55 jobs.
The new store will offer more than 3,500 food and drink lines including the popular Christmas range in the run up to the festive season. In addition, the store will feature a bakery with a range of speciality breads, pastries and cakes freshly baked in-store each day, and a 50-seat café serving Fairtrade tea and coffee as well as sandwiches, cakes and a selection of hot foods.
The store will be open between 8am and 8pm Monday-Saturday and 10am-4pm on Sundays, with two hours’ free parking available at the retail park.
