A ‘brilliant’ morning was had in Allington on Saturday when the vilage held its Macmillan coffee morning.
Cathy Green, chairman of the Allington Village Hall Management Committee, said: “After totting up all the collection boxes, donations and coffee money, we will be able to send £450 to Macmillan Cancer Support, which is an absolutely incredible result.
“Thanks to everyone in the village who supported this event in any way and especially the Friends of the Village Hall, who worked so hard to make it a success.
“The array of cakes was amazing.”
In the ‘Bake Off’, Joy Hart was made Allington’s ‘Star Baker’ with her chocolate cake with ganache and raspberries.
The number of dots on the cake competition was won by Sarah Wright. Her guess of 425 was closest to the actual number of 401.
