Man denies Costcutter robbery and possession of a machete

A man has denied robbing a store in Grantham and having a machete.

Dale Sumner, 31, is accused of robbery at the Costcutter store in Springfield Road on February 14. He is also alleged to have possessed an offensive weapon on the same date.

Sumner, of Huntingtower Road in Grantham is also charged with an offence of intimidation the day after robbery on 15 February.

He entered not guilty pleas to all three charges during a hearing at Lincoln Crown Court today.

Judge Michael Heath adjourned the case for trial at Lincoln Crown Court in September. The case is expected to last five days.

Sumner was remanded in to custody until the start of his trial on 9 September.
