Man had no driving licence and cannabis stuffed inside his sock

A DISQUALIFIED driver was found behind the wheel of a car with cannabis stuffed down his sock.

Police stopped Mark Bingham of Balderton as he was driving a car along the A1 near Colsterworth.

He was found to be driving the Audi A3 with no insurance, no test certificate and when the 45-year-old’s details were entered into the national computer it was found he did not have a valid driving licence, and should not have been on th roads in the first place.

When Bingham was taken to Grantham police station he was searched by officers who discovered cannabis worth £10 hidden in his sock.

Bingham admitted driving whilst disqualified, using a motor vehicle without insurance, driving without a test certificate and being in possession of a Class B drug.

The case was adjourned until March 23 for reports.

Bingham was released until that date on unconditional bail.
