A MAN from Grantham is looking forward to tackling the London Marathon on Sunday after six years of building his fitness levels.

Stuart James, 48, from Barrowby Road, is running after winning a year’s free gym membership from a Journal competition in 2006.

Describing himself as being “generally overweight and lethargic” back in 2006, Stuart has never looked back. Since then he has been a keen runner and now has decided to take on a marathon for the very first time as it is “the ultimate challenge.”

His gruelling training regime has included running at least 13 miles every weekend since Christmas and only last Sunday he ran 16 miles.

Stuart, a director for the Retail Motor Federation, hopes to raise between £4,000 and £5,000 for BEN, a charity that supports those who work or have worked in the automotive industry.
