Crowds of eager customers were queueing outside as the new Marks and Spencers opened in Grantham this morning.

A ribbon was cut at 10am to open the M&S Simply Food store at London Road Retail Park by Dean Law, store manager, in front of 55 new employees.

Mr Law said: “There is nothing else offering food like ours in the town. Customers can benefit from offers like our £10 meal deals, and free parking.

He added: “We hope that people from across the Grantham area will join us to see all the exciting products.”

This store’s ‘Shop Your Way’ scheme also allows shoppers to order either online or in-store from M&S’ full product range - including clothing - with free next day delivery when collecting in-store.

Customers will also be able to collect their Christmas food orders from the store between December 22 – 24 2014.

The 9,000 sq ft store has up to 3,500 food and drink lines, including the popular Christmas range, seasonal fruit and vegetables.

In addition it features a brand new 50-seat M&S Café, along with a bakery serving freshly baked speciality breads, pastries and cakes.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Grantham attended the opening and were among the first of many customers to go through its tills this morning.

First in the queue was Wayne Wood, who said: “It’s great to have M&S back in the town, especially just before Christmas.”

M&S Simply Food Grantham will be open between 8am and 8pm Monday - Saturday and 10.00am - 4pm on Sundays, with free parking available at the retail park.
