People who want to support Grantham’s under-threat maternity unit can sign a petition in support of the service on Tuesday (December 4)
Members of SOS Grantham Hospital will be in the supermarket throughout the day on Tuesday with petition forms as NHS Lincolnshire consults on whether to close Grantham’s maternity unit.
Chairman of campaign group SOS Grantham Hospital, Charmaine Morgan, said: “It is absolutely vital that the people of Grantham and surrounding villages are given a clear understanding of what the proposals are.
“There is a lack of clarity in the Shaping Health Consultation Document which is very concerning.
“Whilst we would urge people to respond to the Shaping Health consultation we believe local people should have an opportunity to have their say and let the Commissioning Body and Shaping Health members know how strongly we feel about the proposed loss of our Maternity Unit and Accident & Emergency Surgery.
“We have been in this position before and through the responses from local people we managed to keep our services going.
“If this is a genuine public consultation, as Allan Kitt has assured me it is, then he will listen to us.”
