AFTER 50 years in the motor trade, 65-year-old Mick Lenton is ready to enjoy his retirement.

Mick is well-known in the industry in Grantham. His career has included stints at Aveling Barford and removals service F&N in Dysart Road, from where he retired as fleet engineer on Christmas Eve.

Mick, of Salisbury Close, Grantham, said: “I should have retired in June when I turned 65 but I wanted to carry on a bit longer. I wanted to carry on even longer but my body frame has had enough, even though my mind hasn’t.”

Mick is also well-known among motor-racing fans, as he used to be a grasstrack racer, winning many trophies and going on to become the best racer in the East Midlands in 1987.

Now he has retired, Mick and wife Jenny, 66, are looking forward to more travelling and making use of their caravan.
