MR Bernard Sidney Watkinson, of Brick Kiln Place, Grantham, has died at home. He was 79.
He was born in Grantham in 1932, the son of Walter and Rose. He had two brothers, Arthur and Peter, and two sisters, Lil and Anne.
Mr Watkinson has nine grandchildren, Kirsty, Robyn, Georgia, Jessica, Elizabeth, Heather, Samantha, Louise and Kelly.
After leaving school he attended Grantham College, where he learned the trade of bricklaying before taking up employment with Eatches Builders.
He then moved on to Parsons Coal Merchants, but later became a self-employed builder, continuing until his retirement.
Mr Watkinson loved to socialise with his family and friends, including his long-term friend, Jack Doyle, and the “Sheila’s Wheels” girls from Asda.
He also knew Mrs Barnett for many years and although very ill, he visited her on a regular basis.
Robert Holland conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
