Mr Frank Robert Topps, of Barkston, has died at home. He was 68.

Born in Grantham, he was the son of the late Harold and Ethel Topps and brother to Ian and Judith.

He was married to Sue and has two daughters, Melanie and Charlotte, sons-in-law, Richard and Michael and grandchildren, Alex, Angus, Olivia and Rob.

At the age of 19 Mr Topps started his own butchery business in Great Gonerby. He built up a successful, mobile business, procuring some of his meat from his own smallholding, where he kept cattle and pigs. It was very much a family business and he worked closely with his meat wholesaler brother, Ian and nephew Mark and alongside his wife and daughters. Throughout his working life he focused on his business and his animals.

After early retirement he discovered bowling and gardening, loving particularly his greenhouse and his organic vegetable garden. He also enjoyed travelling in the UK in his camper van and spending time in his holiday homes in France and Spain.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.
