MR Graham Stanley Everett, of Winchester Road, Grantham, has died. He was 82.

Born in Grimsby, to Stanley and Evelyn Everett, he was the eldest of five children, with two brothers, Brian and Charles, and two sisters, Shirley and Gillian.

He was educated at Wintringham Grammar School, Grimsby, where he proved to be a very talented young sportsman, enjoying much success on the athletics field.

He left school in 1945 to join the Royal Air Force as an aircraft apprentice with the 51st Entry into RAF Halton, Buckinghamshire. He continued to pursue his sport and represented the RAF in football and boxing. It was there that he met his wife of 61 years - Sheila Mary James, from Amersham, Buckinghamshire. His wife predeceased him in April of last year and he had struggled to come to terms with her death.

Mr Everett served in the RAF for 22 years, moving to the rank of Chief Technician. On leaving the RAF he joined British Aerospace as a technical instructor on the 748 and the Nimrod. This new job led to him travelling the world, instructing pilots in many far-flung places such as the islands of the Caribbean, the Bahamas, The Azores, Madagascar, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong, Papua New Guinea, the Cayman Islands, Tonga, and Western Samoa. He visited almost every region of Canada and many of the American states.

After an interesting career with BA, he retired in 1990. He continued as a member of RAFA and was an active member of the Grantham Aviation Society. His interest in aircraft, and particularly airfields, persisted and he visited many sites across the UK.

He was a loving and devoted father to Susan, Alan and Colin and will be very sadly missed by them and all his friends.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.
