MR George William Clarke (Nobby), of Church View, Great Gonerby, has died at home. He was 79.
He was born in Grantham.
At the age of nine he became known as Grantham’s little drummer boy, after winning the talent show at the former Granada Cinema.
In 1968 he met Anne and she was his partner for over 40 years.
Mr Clarke began work at Melton Abbatoir, leaving there to complete his National Service, which was extended by six months, as he was a dispatch rider.
He then went to work at Hammond’s Butchers, Grantham, where he stayed for over 20 years. This was followed by employment at Kontak Engineering until his retirement through ill-health.
Mr Clarke bred canaries and parrots and gardening and wildlife were also his passion. He enjoyed modern dancing with Anne and taking holidays abroad with friends.
The Rev Peter Hopkins conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.
