MR Stanley Dennis Ellerby, of Emminson Way, Great Gonerby, has died in Grantham Hospital. He was 81.

Born in Wigtoft, Lincolnshire, he was the son of Kate and Sidney Ellerby and one of six children. He is predeceased by brothers Harold and Peter and sister Margaret, and has two surviving sisters, Sylvia and Gladys.

Mr Ellerby met his wife Jean when he moved to Great Gonerby and they were married in March 1958. They have two daughters Carole and Mandy, sons-in-law John (deceased) and Richard and five grandchildren Christopher, Michael, Laura, Thomas and Joseph.

Throughout his working life Mr Ellerby was employed as a long distance lorry driver, working for several different companies including Henry Bell and Buxted Poultry. He was employed by Christian Salvesen until he retired in 1995.

Mr Ellerby liked spending time with his wife and family, but especially enjoyed the company of his grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for for St Barnabus Grantham Hospice.
