MRS Iris Burrows, of Bottesford, has died in Lincoln County Hospital. She was 81.

Mrs Burrows was born in Barnet, and moved to Scotland with her family during the Second World War. She attended school in Bellahouston.

After school she worked at Rolls Royce for a while, before moving back to England, where she had a number of jobs. Her last employment was at Bairnswear in Nottingham.

She was married to Bill for 56 years and they had two sons, Andrew and Douglas, followed by three granddaughters, Amy, Ayisha and Francesca.

Mrs Burrows helped on the farm and in her younger days she was very athletic, cycling from Nottingham to Skegness.

She was very artistic in a number of ways as a painter, and she had a wonderful talent with flower arranging. She also painted medieval replicas, first visiting the British Museum to ensure they were correct as she was a perfectionist.

Her flower arranging skills were used to the full when she organised flower festivals at Bottesford Church and surrounding villages. She also enjoyed spending time in her garden and liked animals, especially dogs and cats.

Mrs Burrows was a member of Bingham Operatic Society and took part in many musicals, operettas and old time musical halls.

She helped out delivering Meals on Wheels and always had a positive outlook, was kind, caring and adaptable and was open to new ideas.

The funeral service was held at St Mary’s Church, Bottesford, conducted by the Rev Dr Mark Smith. Cremation followed in Grantham.
