MRS Sarah Birch, of Grantham, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 89.
Mrs Birch was born in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
She joined the Women’s Royal Air Force aged 18, during the Second World War. It was at this time that she met Albert, a military policeman, and they were married in 1944 and moved to Grantham. They had three children, Edward, John and Catherine.
When her children were young Mrs Birch worked the twilight shift at Barratt’s Packaging. Following that she worked for many years at Greenwoods menswear, until her retirement.
The Rev Barbara Chambers conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.
Family mourners included: Mr and Mrs J. Birch, Miss J. Birch, Miss P. Birch, Mr and Mrs S. Hollingworth, Mrs M. Birch, Mr and Mrs S. Staff, Ian Birch, Carol Birch and Joshua Birch.
Other mourners included: Nicola Boddy, Mark Boddy, Cynthia Lyon, Sue Critchley, Ted Critchley, Mr and Mrs Gudgeon, Karen Nesbitt, John Clark, Brian Crunkhorn, Val Crunkhorn, Norman Hoyes, Pat Barker and Bill Barker.
Funeral arrangements were by Co-operative Funeralcare, Bridge End Road, Grantham.
Donations were received for the Alzheimer’s Society.
