Plans have been drawn up to build a new Co-op food store in Colsterworth that could create 20 part-time jobs.

The venture involves the construction of the 4,000 square feet store on a 0.21 hectare site in Bridge End.

It is also proposed to create a 21-space car park for the store.

If the venture is approved by South Kesteven District Council, it will mean the relocation of the Co-op’s current store in High Street to the new site.

A letter to the council from Paresh Pancholi, the Co-op’s regional acquisitions manager, states: “Our existing store on the High Street is severely compromised in terms of servicing, parking and due to the small size, the range of products the Co-op is able to offer its customers.

“The proposed relocation to Bridge End Road will allow the Co-op to provide a wider range of convenience goods in a location with sufficient off street parking and with dedicated servicing to prevent traffic congestion.

“The new store will be fitted out to the latest high quality design and offer an in-house bakery, a wider range of award winning products and an external ATM.”
