Mr David Samuel Griffin, of Ellerby Mead, Swayfield, has died at home. He was 74.

Mr Griffin was born in Barrowby, the son of Tom and Vera Griffin and the second of four children.

He was married to Peggy Anne Griffin and father to Richard and Claire. He has four grandchildren, Scott, Adam, Gemma and Ellen.

Mr Griffin started work at the Post Office in Grantham in 1957 and became assistant head postmaster in 1983.

He moved to Parcelforce in Peterborough in 1986, as head of Human Resources and later head of operations. He retired in 2000 after 43 years’ service.

His interests included cricket, football, Grantham Kesteven Rotary Club and Cliffedale Chandlers Table Tennis Club.

Mr Griffin was devoted to his grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at All Saints Church, Barrowby, conducted by the Rev Peter Hopkins and Robert Holland. Cremation followed in Grantham.
