Mr George Albert Musson, of Grantham, has died after a short illness. He was 88.

Mr Musson was very well known in the town, a true Granthamian, who lived in Grantham all his life.

He is survived by his wife Dawn (nee Galbraith), whom he married at St Wulfram’s Church in 1951.

His working life was spent at Neal’s cranes, Newmans and Barfords as an engineer, and he put all these skills into being a craftsman when he retired, when life began anew.

Mr Musson and his wife were keen ramblers. They loved gardening, theatre, poetry, golf, ballroom dancing, sailing, travelling and music. Above all, they enjoyed socialising with family and friends.

Mr Musson is also famous for his woodwork and metalwork; there are not many who did not receive a treasured gift from him. His weathervanes can be found in many countries, but his best known local one, is over the archway to Wyndham Park, commemorating World War One.

Together with his wife, he was a member of the Rambling Association, Music Club, Carlton Scroop Golf Club and Probus.

A service of celebration of his life was held at St Wulfram’s Church.
