Mr John Quinn (Paddy), of Third Avenue, Grantham, has died at home. He was 85.

Mr Quinn was born near the foot of the Morne mountains in Hilltown, Northern Ireland.

From a young age he worked on the family farm.

He moved to London at the age of 17 and shortly after he joined the Royal Air Force, which brought him to Grantham.

A true family man, Mr Quinn was loved by his wife, Sally, children Carole, Isobel, Sheena, Karen, Darron, David and Jackie, and his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

For many years he worked in engineering, making lifelong friends. He also drove for Lincolnshire RoadCar.

After redundancy he and his wife took over Frank’s Taxis. He later became a market trader, which he greatly enjoyed.

Always keen to help others, Mr Quinn ran Springfield Judo Club after gaining black belt 2nd dan.

He enjoyed going to country and western evenings when his health permitted. In later life he liked playing bowls and attending the local Methodist Church.

The funeral service was held at Harrowby Lane Methodist Church, Grantham, conducted by Ruby Stuckey. Cremation followed at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Funeral arrangements were by Co-operative Funeralcare, Bridge End Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for St Barnabas Hospice (Grantham) and Marie Curie Cancer Care.
