Mr John Richard Garner, of Belton Lane, Grantham, has died at home. He was 80.

He was born in Hagworthingham, Lincolnshire.

Married to Gertie for 59 years, he has five children, 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

He had served in the Army and later worked as a motor mechanic, a plumber, and an electrician. He also worked in various other jobs.

A family man, he liked spending time with his family and he also enjoyed golf and doing crossword puzzles.

The Rev Chris Boland conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Donations were received for Marie Curie Cancer Care, Macmillan Cancer Support and St Barnabas Hospice.
