Mr Matthew Lionel Whitelocks (Matt), of Market Court, South Witham, has died at home. He was 86.

Born in Oxton, Nottinghamshire, he was the son of the late Matthew and Mabel Whitelocks and brother to Joyce, Tom, Brian, Cynthia and Pat.

He was married to Nancy and was father to Denise, Heather, Emma and Matthew and grandad to Steffan, Freya, Evelyn, Kaelan, Sophia, Nathan, Richard, Joe, Peter and Lizzie.

After leaving school he worked at Grange Farm, Oxton.

In the late 1960s he moved to Dickson’s Farm in Ingoldsby, where he remained until he retired.

He moved to Lenton and then to South Witham.

Mr Whitelocks loved to walk his dog and enjoyed his garden and woodwork.

He liked Formula 1 motor racing, listening to music and watching the news on the television.

He also enjoyed writing letters for publication in the Grantham Journal.

Robert Holland conducted the funeral service at Grantham Crematorium Chapel.

Family mourners included: Nancy Whitelocks, Matthew Whitelocks, Emma Whitelocks, Denise Fox, Michael Fox, Natasha Whitelocks, Steffan, Freya, Evelyn, Kaelan, Peter, Lizzie, Joyce, Brian, Pat, Rosemary, Jean, Sabra and Paul.

Other mourners included: Laura and Peter Allen, John Harvey, Terry Parkinson, Roy Allen, John Allen, Angela Vickers, Valerie Charles, Susan Eales, Linda Moreton, Eddie Cole, Paul and Claire Allen, Christine and George Watson, Rene Keidel, Jenny Blankley, Hazel and Roger Frow, Margaret and George Pawson, Trevor Pawson, Ann Burrows, Jane Clarke, Valerie Kinkade, Charlie Gavin, Peter and Margaret Henson, Denise Humphreys, Linda and Simon Baxter, and Wendy and Mark Watson.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.

Donations were received for St Barnabas Hospice.
