Mrs Cecily Gill Berridge (Gill), of Wroxall Drive, Grantham, has died at home. She was 71.
Born in Grantham she was the daughter of Gladys Caudwell and sister to Titch, Joan, Roy, Brian and Olive.
She grew up in Colsterworth, where she attended the local school until the age of 14.
She then went to Spitalgate School in Grantham until the age of 15, leaving there to start her first job at Woolworth’s in High Street.
She left Grantham aged 17 and married her first husband Mike, who was in the Armed Forces. She went on to have two children, Angela and Neil, before she was 19 and then travelled the world extensively with her family, spending time in Singapore, Cyprus, Germany and Spain to name but a few.
She had six grandchildren, Michael, Michelle, Christopher, Adam, Ashleigh and Luke and she was also a great-grandmother.
Mrs Berridge always worked, including owning and running pubs and hotels throughout the country.
After many years she settled back in Grantham, where she met her present husband Dennis, when they were both working at Fenland Foods.
She retired aged 63.
She and Dennis shared a love of darts and they had a wide circle of friends with who they socialised, including many holidays abroad.
Mrs Berridge had a great love and passion for gardening and spent many hours pursuing it. She was also an accomplished seamstress who made many clothes for her children as they were growing up. In later life she kept her mind sharp with a love of crossword puzzles.
She was known locally as a private and lovely lady.
