Mrs Joan Kathleen Lewis, of Frieston, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 89.
Born in 1923, in Holborn, London, her father was a policeman at Bow Street. She grew up in Surrey. Mrs Lewis was apprenticed as a dressmaker, before joining the WRAF at the start of the Second World War.
She met her husband, Ken at RAF Cranwell and they were married in 1947. They had two children, Michael and Heather and subsequently grandchildren, Matthew, Simon, Tim and Jenny and great-grandchildren, Eleni, Freddie and Ellie. Her husband pre-deceased her in 1992.
Mrs Lewis enjoyed cooking - making jams and chutney, sewing, knitting, gardening and wine making. She also enjoyed the company of her cats. For many years she was a member of the WI.
The Rev Alison Healy and Canon John S. Thorold conducted the funeral service at St Vincent’s Church, Caythorpe. Cremation followed.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham. Donations were received for the British Heart Foundation.
