Mrs Janet Marjorie Burtt, of The Manor, High Street, Welbourn, has died there. She was 83.
Born in Grantham, she was the daughter of Felix and Marjorie Ransome, and older sister of John.
Mrs Burtt was mother to Roger, James, Diana and Sarah, grandmother of Nara, Leo, Anna, Rebecca, Rachel, Hannah and Ella, and five great-grandchildren.
The family farmed at Church Farm, Brandon.
During the war years she attended St Swithun’s School, Winchester, playing in the cricket and lacrosse teams. At this time her father was a lecturer and acting principal of Sparsholt Agricultural College.
After moving back to Lincolnshrie, to Grange Farm, Normanton, she attended Lincoln Art College and met Ralph Burtt at Caythorpe Young Farmers Club. They married in 1950. Mr Burtt sadly died in 1964 at the age of 39.
Mrs Burtt enjoyed being involved with her granddaughters and had many interests including visiting friends, hunting, and all things connected with the countryside. She also enjoyed tapestry, painting, pottery, horses and dogs.
At one time Mrs Burtt was secretary to the local British Field Sport Society. Other voluntary work included driving a minibus for Age Concern in Grantham.
The funeral service was held at The Quaker Meeting House, Brant Broughton. Burial followed in Brant Broughton.

Funeral arrangements were by Geesons Funeral Directors, Westgate, Grantham.
