Mrs Mavis Dickinson, of Saltersford Road, Grantham, has died in Birchwood Retirement Home, Dudley Road, Grantham. She was 96.
Mrs Dickinson was born in Leeds, on November 3, 1916, the youngest of three children of Edith and Ted Robson.
She married Jack Dickinson, a toolmaker from Crossgates, Leeds, and they lived for some time in Stourport-on-Severn, where Jack worked for Stedtite and Porcelain Products Limited.
At the outbreak of World War Two, the couple settled in Cliffe Road, Grantham. At this time Jack worked for BMARC.
They had three children, David, Robin and Martin, seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Mr and Mrs Dickinson enjoyed weekly sessions of old-time and ballroom dancing at BMARC and Aveling Barford social halls for many years.
Latterly, at the family home in Saltersford Road, Mrs Dickinson enjoyed tending her large garden, and remained fiercely independent when she lost Jack to cancer in 1996. However, nearly five years ago, she becamem a well-loved resident of Birchwood Retirement Home.
The funeral service was held at Grantham Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Robert Holland.

Funeral arrangements were by Robert Holland, St Catherine’s Road, Grantham.
Donations for the Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire Air Ambulance amount to £118.07 to date.
