Mrs Margaret Elizabeth Hassall, of Pasture Lane, Knipton, has died in Grantham Hospital. She was 89.
Born in Knipton, she had one brother Ernest, and a sister, Mary.
She was married to Len and they have four sons, Charlie, Jim, John and Robert.
She went into service for Dr Hudson, and later worked for Mr Payne-Galway.
During the Second World War she served in the canteen at Market Harborough. She then worked for Mrs Shipman at Croxton Lodge and then Belvoir Castle.
Her interests were cooking, sewing and gardening.
The Rev Rowena Bass conducted the funeral service at All Saints Church, Knipton. Burial followed in the churchyard.

Petchey (Belvoir Parish Council), Mr and Mrs P. Shipman, Mr and Mrs B. Read, Mr E. Bellamy, Mrs D. Broughton, Mrs B. Taylor, Mr and Mrs J. Swain, Geoff, Mr and Mrs J. Marshall, Mr and Mrs T. Vickers, together with nurses from Belvoir Home Care.
Funeral arrangements were by Geeson Funeral Directors, Westgate, Grantham.
Donations for Vista Blind, a Leicester organisation for the Blind, formerly known as Royal Leicestershire, Rutland and Wycliffe Society for the Blind, amount to £305.80 to date.
