THE Olympic torch will pass through Grantham next summer, it was announced today.
The London 2012 organising committee announced the full route of the torch this morning.
As part of the celebration leading up to the 2012 games, the torch will pass through Grantham on Thursday, June 28.
Grantham will be one of the last destinations of the day before an evening celebration in Nottingham.
Organisers of the games have yet to announce the names of people who have been selected to carry the torch, but it is hoped that inspirational people from the Grantham area will be selected.
The gold-coloured torch is perforated with 8,000 circles to represent the 8,000 people who will carry the torch on its journey around the country.
During its journey around the country, the torch will pass within 10 miles of 95 per cent of the population.
