Dozens of Santa Claus clones descended on Wyndham Park on Saturday to take part in Grantham’s second Santa Fun Run.
Spirits were high as the 81 participants, and a few dogs, all lined up to await the start of the 2.5km run around the park. Some even decorated pushchairs to bring their little ones along.
The total raised was just over £2,000, which will go to the British Heart Foundation, the Rotary Charity Foundation and St Wulfram’s Church.
Courtney Finn, an organiser, said: “Last year we had about 40 people take part and raised £1,500 and so it was very encouraging to have the numbers taking part and the pledged sponsorship amounts receive such a boost.”
At the end of the run, they were each presented with a medal as a thank you for their contribution. Medals and prizes were presented by Mayor of Grantham Ian Stokes, Mayoress Sarah Stokes and chairman of South Kesteven District Council Rosemary Kaberry-Brown.
Mr Finn said: “It was a fine Grantham occasion and set the scene well for the event to take place each year. There were lots of smiling faces and the Christmas season made a good start.”
