A pencil, a 2002 diary and some shampoo

My twelve-year-old daughter was taken to the carnival on the Saturday by her disabled gran. Having spent her hard-earned pocket money on several tombola stalls her 'haul' included a single pencil, a diary for 2002 and a free sample bottle of shampoo.

I have told my daughter, from now on, the best way to help a charity is to use its secondhand shop, we sure have plenty of those in town.

My daughter thought she was doing a good deed but she would have been far happier having lost instead.
