Have your say

The British summer has finally made an appearance and due to its fleeting nature we should make the most of it.

Summer is the perfect time of year to spend time with friends and family, pick up a new hobby or get involved with a great cause and Grantham has opportunities for all three for those who want to look closely.

Our town, and the whole of Lincolnshire, is in a lucky position within the country with fantastic rural venues, such as Woodland Waters and Belton House.

The county also plays host to significant parts of English history. Belvoir Castle, a stronghold during the Civil War, and Woolsthorpe Manor, the birthplace of Sir Isaac Newton, are both excellent examples of this.

Last week’s Grantham Life directory showed the diversity of organisations available for locals to get stuck in with and there are even more not listed.

From athletic clubs to charities, there are a lot of chances for self improvement as well as helping to improve the life of thoseless fortunate around us.

Supporting these local efforts is always worthwhile and getting involved with clubs and societies is a great way to drum up community spirit which may seem lacking at times in Grantham.

Having goals is the best way to motivate yourself into doing something. Having a goal for the next few months and working hard at it means you almost assuredly won’t miss out on enjoying the short-lived British summer. If your idea of making the most of the summer is not to work hard however, you shouldn’t miss out on what Grantham has to offer.
