I’m willing to use my column to show off Grantham

Have your say

I love going to shows and concerts, but normally I have to travel to Nottingham’s Capital FM Arena or further afield.

It’d be nice to see things locally for a change, and luckily for us Jimmy Carr will be coming to the Grantham Mere’s Leisure Centre in October.

A chance to see a comedy genius for just £25 doesn’t come around very often, and definitely not on your own doorstep!

The Guildhall Arts Centre also hosts some great events – everything from weekly Zumba fitness classes (which I’ve heard is quite fun, although I haven’t been myself) to ballroom dancing and a Youth Drama group.

They sometimes show films too, so it’s well worth checking out what they have going on before you decide to go somewhere like Lincoln or Nottingham for something to do.

Our cinema has actually improved a bit over the last few years as well.

We can view films in 3D, and the ticket prices are quite reasonable compared to the likes of the Odeon, Vue and Cineworld. They even have a Kids Club, where selected films are on show for just £1 per child.

There is also a Senior Citizens special on Tuesday, and discounted tickets on Monday and Wednesday for everybody, so nobody is missing out.

With the retail scene dwindling rapidly, I think entertainment is going to become a big part of Grantham.

Attempts have already been made to provide people with things they want, such as the Joyz of Grind indoor skate park which appears to have been well-received by its customers.

Do you think there’s something for everyone in Grantham?

I want to know what you want to see here - after all, if nobody knows what you want, how can they provide it to you?

Let me know, and if it’s worth shouting about, I’ll do my best to give you a brilliant shout out in this column - you can’t say fairer than that!
