Our mother was discharged from Lincoln Hospital on Christmas Eve.
Her condition gave us cause for concern and we called the St John’s Medical Centre at 5pm and duty doctor Dr Meuwissen attended and felt she should go back to hospital. Mother expressed her wish not to go back to Lincoln, so he referred her to the EAU at Grantham Hospital, who were reluctant to accept her.
He argued her case in a totally professional manner and acted as patient advocate, so her wish was honoured. Once at the EAU we were quickly dealt with my Mr Ian, Sister Rosemary Bull and Staff Nurse Izzy and treatment commenced in a professional and timely manner. Mother’s stay on EAU and Ward One was made as pleasant as possible and the staff were fantastic, a credit to the NHS. Special thanks to Staff Nurse Jenny Lunny for sorting out mum’s discharge. There is so often negative press about the NHS, but this has demonstrated to us excellent care is available on our doorstep.
