ONE of the main things I have learnt since working at the Journal is that community spirit is very important to people in Grantham.
That is one of the reasons why I decided to organise G in the Park, the free music festival, which will take place in Dysart Park this Sunday.
I hope the event, which will run from 1pm until 6pm, will give people the opportunity to support some of the extremely talented musicians our community has to offer while raising money for a great cause - The Grantham Hospice.
Whenever I speak to musicians in the area I am amazed by the dedication they show and how hard they work to get gigs in Grantham. I decided to try and help them get their music heard and I hope you will support this by coming along to listen.
I really think you will be surprised by the amazing range and abilities these musicians have. And you never know, if it’s a success, we may be competing with Glastonbury next year, although hopefully without the mud!
G in the Park is not all about the music. Grantham School of Dancing will also be showcasing their talent by performing and there will be a raffle with fantastic prizes including a keyboard from Fox UK Music and a £50 voucher from Everest Inn to raise money for the hospice.
If you are free on Sunday, whatever the weather, why not pop down and show your community spirit?
