The Ballad of Fred the Train

editorial image

Oh dear! What can the matter be ...

Oh dear! What can the matter be ...A tale of woe from the Grantham community ...

A certain poor gentleman needed the lavatory

And headed there quick for a wee.

He locked the door and sat down for a minute

He did what he had to and then when he'd finished

He tried hard to exit but hope was diminished

The door lock was stuck, as was he!

So, oh dear! What can the matter be ...

Fred the Train is now locked in the lavatory.

Thought he would be there from then til next Saturday!

Nobody knew he was there.

Then up to his rescue there came Grantham's finest

(Who tried not to laugh as an act of great kindness)

After 45 minutes the heroes won their quest

And Fred was let out to fresh air.

So a tale of great woe for a certain poor gentleman

Whose need of the loo did cause him such stress and strain

He hopes that it never will happen to him again,

but Fred doesn't do things by half!!

So many thanks to the firefighters of Grantham

Who gave such a hand in the rescue of our man

His pride and his dignity have both gone down the pan

But all of his mates had a laugh!
