Double yellow lines will be introduced on London Road by Easter to make the entrance road to the retail park safer.

County councillors agreed to the measures this week to be imposed outside the Grantham retail park where M&S and B&Q are located.

The council will impose no waiting at any time south of the London Road retail park and no waiting between 6am and 6pm. Monday to Friday, north of the entrance to the park.

Mark Heaton, area highways manager, told the Journal: “People are parking just outside the London Road Retail Park which is causing visibility problems.

“Motorists leaving the retail park don’t have a clear view of oncoming traffic and those approaching from the direction of Gainsborough Corner are having trouble spotting pedestrians crossing the park’s entrance.

“We will introduce yellow lines here to help keep everyone safe and local businesses have been supportive of this.

“This will prevent parking outside the park between the hours of 6am and 6pm, from Monday to Friday, with some areas having double yellow lines.”

He confirmed the work is due to be completed by Easter.
