A wealth of local talent will be taking part in this year’s Grantham Music Festival at ChristChurch in Finkin Street from next week.

The festival starts on Wednesday, March 4, with the Primary Music making afternoon from 1pm and continues to Tuesday, March 10.

This year’s adjudicator is Joan Foster, a former teacher and lecturer at the Birmingham Conservatoire for 13 years and now an examiner and trainer for ABRSM.

There will be a full programme of competitive classes including a full day of solo and choral classes on Saturday, March 7, starting at 10.30am with the primary school aged vocal solos, and then featuring solo chorister and church choirs to the usual feast of Songs from the Shows and other vocal solos in the evening.

The trophy presentations and trophy winners’ concert will be held on Saturday, March 14, at 7pm. Major Dennis Hannant will present the trophies.

Festival programmes are available at the Guildhall Arts Centre and Simmonds Music in Westgate, priced at £2.

Entry to morning and afternoon sessions is £1 and evening sessions are £2. There is no charge for those of school age. Concert tickets cost £3.
