A PARADE of 150 soldiers from the 168 Pioneer Regiment RLC marched through Grantham town centre this afternoon, to the cheers of hundreds of people.
High Street and St Peter’s Hill were lined with families who turned out to show their support for the troops, who were accompanied by the Band of the Brigade of Ghurkhas.
As they approached the green in front of the Guildhall, the soldiers saluted the Lord Lieutenant of Lincolnshire Tony Worth.
A service at St Wulfram’s Church preceded the march, which marks the return of the soldiers from Operations Tosca and Herrick. Operation TOSCA is the UK’s contribution to the United Nations peacekeeping mission in Cyprus, while Operation Herrick is operations in Afghanistan.
