GRANTHAM MP Nick Boles has said the Budget, which was announced by Chancellor George Osborne on Wednesday, will help deal with the country’s deficit and kick-start growth.
Mr Boles said two aspects of the Budget in particular will benefit people in Grantham. The most important being the increase in personal allowances to £9,205 from April 2013. He said: “There are lots of working people and pensioners with low incomes who will not have to pay income tax at all.”
Mr Boles said that the cut in Corporation tax will also help local businesses to grow and thrive.
But not everything in the budget will benefit your pockets. Fuel duty will rise by 3p from August 1.
He said: “The last time I filled my car I couldn’t believe my eyes.”
But added that the Government could not afford to stop more duty rises that were planned by the last Government.
