A packed programme of events to help start-up, small and medium sized enterprises is being organised for South Kesteven District Council’s Enterprise Week from March 17-21.
New skills, networking, motivational talks and routes to business improvement will be covered in events in Grantham, Bourne, the Deepings and Stamford in one of the biggest enterprise events ever staged by SKDC.
The highlight of the week will be an evening networking event organised by Total Networking at Stoke Rochford Hall on Wednesday, March 19. The event will incorporate the area finals of the Young Enterprise competition as well as a keynote speech from leading local entrepreneur, Scott Weavers-Wright, former chief executive of Kiddicare.
With technology a key element in business growth, the evening will include demonstrations of the latest equipment available to local business through local technology hubs, including state of the art 3D scanning, printing and laser engraving. A buffet supper is included.
Talks and presentations will include how YouTube can promote business, best use of Twitter and Facebook, as well as including tips on finance, employment, legal and marketing.
Free business advice will also be available during the week on a one to one basis from a leading independent advisor.
Local independent retailers can benefit from attending retail revolution seminars from Aimee Holland, of ‘Grow my Profit’, focused on service levels and profit.
She said: “Utilising a few simple steps, I can guarantee that we can increase the profit of retail businesses.”
Most sessions have a small fee of only £2.50 to attend and are being held at different times of the day to maximise opportunities for businesses to attend.
A dedicated website with the full programme of events for the week, including how to book for each session, is online at www.skdcenterpriseweek.co.uk or call Grantham Guildhall box office on 01476 406158.
Many sessions will be recorded and uploaded to the website as webinars for anyone missing a seminar of interest.
Enterprise Week 2014 is being held in partnership with local business organisations including Total Networking, Grantham Business Club, Bourne Business Chamber, Stamford Town Team and Chamber, Lincolnshire Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Small Businesses.
Councillor Frances Cartwright, SKDC portfolio holder for economic development, said: “We are committed to supporting business growth and development right across the district.
“The programme for Enterprise Week 2014 is wide, far reaching and designed to help businesses at every stage of their development to benefit, grow and contribute to the local economy.”
