Debbie Wren has resigned as a councillor for South Kesteven District Council.

Debbie Wren has resigned as a councillor for South Kesteven District Council.

A district councillor has resigned from her seat at South Kesteven District Council.

The Grantham and Stamford Conservative Association has confirmed that Debbie Wren has officially resigned and will no longer represent Aveland ward, which covers the Rippingale and Aslackby area.

In her letter of resignation, Ms Wren explained that due to the pressure of work commitments she has recently found it hard to dedicate the time to her role as a district councillor.

She was first elected in May 2011 and has been a member of the development control committee since the election.

Association chairman Richard Davies said: “Debbie Wren has been a strong vocal champion for her short term representing Aveland ward. Her work on the wind farm policy has shaped the district council’s approach to dealing with applications.

“I would personally like to wish her the very best of luck for the future.”

The association is now in the process of selecting a candidate to stand in the forthcoming by-election.
