Councillors at South Kesteven District Council yesterday voted unanimously in favour of flying the Union Flag outside the council’s St Peter’s Hill offices throughout the year.

Councillors hoped it would show their support of all things British and their backing of our armed forces.

This morning (Friday) the flag was proudly hoisted up the flag pole only for at least one eagle-eyed Journal reader to spot a problem - it’s upside down.

The tell-tale sign is the thick white stripe in the top left corner must be above the red stripe, not below.

However, perhaps we are jumping the gun in suggesting an error. Flying the flag upside down is often a sign of distress.
