The principal of Walton Girls’ High School and Sixth Form has announced she is leaving to take on a new role at a Nottinghamshire academy.
Christine Horrocks has informed students, parents and staff of her decision to become head of The Elizabethan Academy in Retford.
Mrs Horrocks said: “It has been a difficult decision because Walton has been, and always will be, a very special school for me – both in terms of our wonderful staff members and students, and the inspirational ethos of the school.
“However, the new post offers a different set of challenges for me and as I always tell the students to challenge themselves, I feel that this is something I need to do.”
Mrs Horrocks added that it would be ‘business as usual’ at the school for the next few months as they prepare to welcome a new principal ahead of her last day in Easter 2015.
“As always, my priority will be to ensure our students continue to receive an excellent education in an enjoyable learning environment and I will be working closely with the Chair of Governors and staff to ensure that both the lead up and hand-over to a new Principal is smooth.”
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank students, parents, colleagues and governors for their supportive comments following my decision and once again, would reassure everyone that measures will be in place to ensure the continuing success of this unique and exceptional school.”
