Relief as fine issued in Grantham’s B&Q car park is quashed

A woman who vowed to boycott Grantham’s B&Q store after receiving a parking ticket is overjoyed by the news it will be quashed.

Melanie Asquith, of Allington, was handed a £100 fine for parking over the bay line. She argued that she moved across to avoid an overgrowing plant, and that the car park was virtually empty. On Friday morning, she received a phone call to tell her the fine was cancelled.
A spokesman for B&Q said: “The car park is owned and managed by Legal and General who employ parking attendants to ensure the rules stated on the terms and conditions and clearly displayed in the car park are adhered to. Mrs Asquith complained to the B&Q store manager about her parking ticket, B&Q appealed to the parking attendant on her behalf and a cancellation of ticket was arranged as a gesture of goodwill.”
