FLOOD-hit residents of the Queensland town of Grantham returned to their homes to inspect the damage this week.
The town bore the brunt of devastating floods that hit the Brisbane area last week.
At least six people from Grantham were killed and more are missing as a result of flooding caused by unusually heavy rainfall.
This week police closed the town to all but its residents to allow people to assess the damage to their homes and grieve for lost loved-ones without intrusion.
The plight of people living in Grantham struck a chord with people from Grantham in Lincolnshire, who contacted the Journal to find out if there was anything that could be done to help people recover from the disaster.
l An appeal has been set up to help people who have been affected by the floods.
